Much like a wedding, a lot of planning and thought goes into hosting a successful bridal shower. The bulk of your attention is likely focused on selecting the right venue, food, and décor. However, picking the right bridal shower games is arguably just as important. Whether you’re bringing together a group of close friends or a mix of guests from different areas of the bride’s life, games are a great way to involve everyone in the festivities.

Below, we break down the best bridal shower games by category. Stuck on which ones to play? Knowing your bride—and who is attending—will help you select the right ones for the occasion. For a  group that includes guests of different ages and eras of the bride’s life, consider kicking off the celebration with some icebreakers that will encourage mingling before progressing into more competitive games. Depending on how much you want to spend on the shower, you can also opt to have the winning team or victorious guests receive a small prize.

Read on for 40 of our favorite bridal shower games, designed to appease all different types of parties and guest lists.

Fun Bridal Shower Games

Vow Mad Libs

Spark some laughter with this bridal shower game. Print out traditional vows and leave blank spaces for nouns, verbs, and adjectives, but don’t give your guests any additional context. Have a designated person ask guests for a word to fill in the blank. You can do this as a group or assign each guest a blank space to come up with a word for. At the end of the party, have the bride read the completed wedding vows.

Paper Bride

All you need to play this bridal shower game is a few rolls of toilet paper. (Pro tip: Use triple-ply, so it doesn't rip.) Divide your guests into teams of three or four, depending on the size of your party, and have them select a model for each team. Task the other members with constructing a wedding dress around her using only toilet paper. Once they’re done, encourage the models show off the new designs—and have the bride pick her favorite look.

The Newlywed Game

Before the bridal shower, come up with a list of questions about who does what in the engaged couple’s relationship. Print out a copy of the questions for each guest. Here are some questions to consider including:

  • Who is the messier one?
  • Who said “I love you” first?
  • Who is the better cook?

As you read the questions aloud, guests can check off their guesses. If the groom opts to attend the bridal shower, have him and the bride sit back to back as you ask the questions. Have them raise either their left or right hand depending on their answer. If the groom isn’t present at the shower, pre-record his answers to the questions and play them after the bride answers for herself.

Newlywed Trivia

There are two potential ways to play this bridal shower game: You can opt to conduct it as a quiz or a Jeopardy!-inspired competition. To start, collect interesting—or ridiculous—pieces of information about the couple, then ask guests to guess the answers to your questions. Attach different point values to each question, depending on the difficultly level. The guest with the most points at the end of the game wins. Here are some sample questions to consider including:

Fantasy Date

All you need for this game is a stack of index cards and some pens. Have each guest write the name of their dream celebrity date on a card. Place all of the cards in a basket. Draw one card at a time and read the name aloud before having the group try to match the date to the guest.

Tie the Knot

In this bridal shower game, your guests will literally tie the knot. To start, you’ll need several jars of cherries. Give each guest a small bowl of cherries—and see who can transform the most stems into knots in two minutes.

Date Night Ideas

This bridal shower game is both fun and useful. To start, you’ll need note or index cards and pens. Pass them out to your guests and have everyone write down a date-night suggestion for the soon-to-be newlyweds. After everyone reads their suggestion aloud, deposit them into a cute box that the bride can take home and refer back to whenever she and her partner are searching for something to do.

Pin the Veil

It’s the classic children’s game—with a bridal-inspired twist. Place a large photo of the bride on the wall. Blindfold guests, one at a time, and have them try to pin a makeshift veil in the right place.

Gingerbread Groom

For this game, you’ll need candy and gingerbread men. While this game can be expensive if you’re hosting a large bridal shower, it’s the perfect game for a small group of guests. Have each attendee create a replica of the groom using the gingerbread men, icing, sprinkles, and various candies. The bride then selects her favorite version. (It also makes for a delicious party favor.)

Who's the Groom?

For this game, you’ll need to know the bride’s crushes from her teenage years. Lay out childhood photos of them, as well as the groom, on a table—or hang them where everyone can see them. The first guest to correctly guess which one is the groom wins.

The Lingerie Game

While this game is often played on bachelorette trips, it can also be a bridal shower game if your guest list is comprised of only close friends of the bride. When guests RSVP to the celebration, request that each of them bring lingerie for the bride. At the event, hang each piece on a clothesline and have the bride move down the line, guessing which friend brought which piece.

Creative Bridal Shower Games

Where Were We?

If your bride loves to travel, consider integrating this game into her bridal shower. Hang up approximately ten photos of the engaged couple on various trips or in different locations. Number each photo. (Pro tip: Look through their social media accounts for the best photos.) Have guests write down where they think each photo was taken. The guest with the most correct guesses wins.

Who Can Make the Best Cocktail?

For this game, you’ll need a full-stocked bar. Divide your guests into small teams. Set up the bar, label every ingredient, and have attendees compete to concoct the best wedding cocktail. After guests have crafted their drinks, have the bride taste each one—and subsequently declare the winning beverage.

Musical Matching

If you’re hosting a bridal shower with many members of the bride’s family, this is a perfect game to play. Reach out to the engaged couple’s parents, grandparents, or any other family members who are married and ask for their first dance song and a wedding photo. At the shower, have guests try to match the photo of each couple with their song while playing a clip of the music.

Charades: Wedding Movies Edition

Write the names of different wedding-themed movies on cards. Divide guests into two teams and have them act out the titles to their own team members in three minutes or less—without speaking or singing. If their team correctly guesses the movie, they receive a point. The team with the most points wins.

Why Do We Do That?

Let’s face it: There are so many wedding traditions that we don’t really know the history of. If you don’t mind doing a bit of preliminary research, this bridal shower game can be fun and informative. Make a list of wedding traditions, such as having a designated ring finger or the bouquet toss, and give each guest a copy, along with potential answers. Have guests complete the makeshift quiz. The guest with the most correct answers wins.

Cold Feet

This game isn’t for the faint of heart. However, if you have an adventurous bride who never backs down from a challenge, it could be the perfect activity for her shower. To start, fill buckets with ice and water. Place a bunch of toy rings inside of the buckets. Have guests plunge their feet into the icy water and pull the rings out—using only their toes. The guest who acquires the most rings in two minutes wins.

Pen a Poem

This is the perfect game for the literary bride. To start, grab a single sheet of paper and a couple of pens. Ask each guest to write a single line of a romantic poem dedicated to the couple. Then, fold the paper over, hiding the guest’s phrase, and pass it along to the next attendee. Repeat the process. Once everyone has contributed, read the disjointed poem aloud (in your best dramatic voice!).

Newlywed Recipes

If your bride is a chef or a restaurant aficionado, consider this hybrid activity-gift for her shower. When each guest RSVPs to the festivities, ask them to come with a recipe for the happy couple. Compile all of them in a book—or select one to serve at the celebration.

Prince Charming Game

Give every guest at the party a pot of playdough and ask them to create their own version of Prince Charming. It’s a silly game that may spark some creativity. Have the bride select her favorite model.

Movie Quote—or Bride Quote?

If your bride is particularly sentimental, consider playing this quote game. Find cute TV or movie quotes with a character saying something about their love interest, as well as some of the bride’s social media posts about her groom. If she doesn’t have an active social media presence, write down things she’s said or texted to you about her partner. Read through each of the quotes and have everyone guess if it was or wasn’t said by the bride.

Cupcake Game

Consider playing this game for the bride with a sweet tooth. When guests RSVP to the shower, tell them they’ll need to bring a cupcake—preferably their favorite flavor. At the celebration, have the bride guess who brought which cupcake. Plus, they can serve as an edible gift for the bride or a dessert for everyone to share.

Wedding Survival Kit Memory Game

Before the shower, gather any day-of wedding items you may need in case of a small emergency, such as safety pins, needle and thread, nail polish, stain-remover wipes, and breath mints. Arrange them on a tray. Give guests one minute to memorize the items. Take the tray away, wait 30 seconds, and then have them write down everything they can remember from the tray. At the end of the game, give the bride the items for the perfect day-of emergency bridal kit.

Whose Memory?

For this game, you’ll need note or index cards and pens. Have everyone write down one of their favorite memories they share with the bride. Place all the cards in a basket and have the bride read them aloud. If you want to make the game competitive, have the group try to guess which memory belongs to which guest.

Wedding Word Scramble

Use a free online word-scramble generator to mix up a bunch of words associated with the couple and the bride. Print out a sheet for each guest and see who can untangle all of the words first.

Celebrity Wives

If your bride knows everything about pop culture, consider playing this game. Gather a stack of index cards and tape. Write the names of her favorite famous wives on index cards, putting one name on each note. Have each guest tape a card to their forecard without seeing who it is. Have other guests describe the person to them until the wearer correctly guesses who is taped to their forehead.

How Well Does the Bride Really Know Their Spouse-to-Be?

Compile a list of questions about the bride’s partner and pass them out to everyone. (Make sure to speak to the groom beforehand to get the answers.) Have guests guess how many questions they think the bride will be able to answer correctly. Then, have your bride read each of the questions aloud before answering them.

Guests Play a Scavenger Hunt Bridal Shower Game on Their Phones

What’s In Your Cell Phone?

All guests need to participate in this game is their cell phone. In this scavenger hunt, they’ll search their phones for a particular item and get points for each one they find. Read them aloud or have guests work their way through a checklist. Here are some potential items to consider including on the hunt:

Guess How Many

For this bridal shower game, all you need is a jar filled with the bride’s favorite type of candy. Have guests write down how many pieces they think are in the jar. The guest whose guess is closest to the actual number wins.

Pass the Parcel

For this game, you’ll need a small gift covered in multiple layers of wrapping paper. Have guests sit in a circle. Play some music, and when the song stops, the person holding the parcel takes off a layer of wrapping paper. Restart the music and continue passing the wrapped gift. Repeat the process until all that’s left is the final layer. The guest who uncovers the final layer gets to keep the gift.

Bridal Shower Games for Large Groups

Find the Guest

If you’re looking for an icebreaker, consider playing this game. Prior to the bridal shower, compile a checklist of characteristics, such as speaking a foreign language, living out of state, or having three children. Give each guest a sheet with the listed characteristics. Have everyone mingle and attempt to check off all of the characteristics on their list by finding someone who matches a particular description. For an added challenge, vary the lists you give guests and see who can complete the task first.

Who’s That Couple?

Print out photos of different celebrity couples and number each one. Have guests try to identify as many different couples as they can, writing down each guess on a sheet with the corresponding number. The guest who has the most correct guesses wins.

Purse Scavenger Hunt

For this bridal shower game, make a list of common items people might carry in their bag, such as hair ties, pens, lipstick, and fast food receipts. The guest who has the greatest number of listed items in their own bag wins.

Put a Ring on It

At the start of the shower, give each guest a plastic ring to wear. Whenever a guest says “bride” or “wedding,” another attendee can steal that person’s ring. Whoever ends the shower with the most rings wins.

Musical Bouquet

Think: musical chairs but with a bouquet. Have guests sit in a circle and pass the flowers around as you play music. When the song stops, whoever has the bouquet is eliminated from the game. Continue this process until you have your winner.

Pictionary: Wedding Edition

Divide your guests into teams of two for a wedding-inspired version of Pictionary. Have each team write down wedding-related words on slips of paper and place them in a basket. A guest will blindly select one of the words from the opposing team's basket and have two minutes to draw what it is. If their team guesses the correct word, they receive a point. Repeat, alternating sides, until all of the words are drawn.

Over or Under

Make a list of numbers that pertain to the engaged couple and their wedding, such as the number of years they’ve been together, the number of venues they toured, and the number of guests they’ll have at their wedding. Change some of the numbers slightly. Have guests guess whether the numbers are too high, too low, or accurate.

Telephone Wedding Toast

If you’re looking for a bridal shower game that requires no supplies, consider playing this version of Telephone. Have one guest start by whispering well-wishes to the bride before having the bride whisper what she heard to the person sitting on her other side. Repeat this process until the phrase has made it all the way around the room. Have the last guest ‘repeat’ the toast aloud—and see how many of the words changed over time.

True/False

Have each guest tell two stories about their love lives: one true and one false. The room then guesses which is which. Use points to determine the winner (one point for a correct guess, minus one point for an incorrect guess, and ten points to the sharer if no one is right).

Wedding Bingo

It’s your classic game of bingo—with a bridal shower twist. Design your own personalized bingo board with wedding-related words or phrases pertaining to the happy couple. Plenty of templates are available to be printed out online. To make it even more on theme, use plastic rings as markers.
