Apart from saying “I do” to your soulmate, one of the most exciting parts about getting married has to be choosing the awe-worthy dress (or suit, should you prefer) you’ll wear on your big day. But who said you have to save that honor for your walk down the aisle? For ladies like Camila Morrone and Emily Ratajkowski, bridal-wear was fair game when it came time to shine on the red carpet this awards season.

As unconventional as their gown choices may have been, they were far from the first to don wedding couture for a big event. Everyone from Beyoncé, to Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker has had a princess moment in a real-life wedding gown (some more than once!) they had absolutely no intention of tying the knot in.

Kate Hudson, 2009 Golden Globes

Perhaps taking a cue from her turn as Olivia “Liv” Lerner in 2009's Bride Wars, Hudson showed up to the 2010 Golden Globes in a jaw-dropped design from Marchesa’s spring 2010 bridal line. Needless to say, Hudson turned plenty of heads in the structured column gown, which featured a ruffled neckline and a gathered mermaid skirt.

Kyra Sedgwick, 2010 SAG Awards

Kyra Sedgwick may not have taken home the Screen Actors’ Guild Award she was nominated for as Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in The Closer in 2010, but she certainly won big on the red carpet: The actress wore a wedding dress by none other than bridal guru Vera Wang! Everything about it, from the gray diagonal sash and beaded appliqué to the fishtail train, was utterly enchanting.

We got a *pretty* good idea of what Sarah Jessica Parker might have looked like had she worn white on her wedding day to Matthew Broderick after seeing her in Vivienne Westwood’s cloud dress for Sex and the City (the actress famously wore a ruffled, all-black Morgane Le Fey frock while exchanging vows with her hubby of 22 years). Still, she gave us all a good reminder in 2013, when she walked the red carpet at the Golden Globes in Vera Wang bridal couture. “I saw a picture of this dress and was completely haunted… fell madly in love with it,” she reportedly said of the plunging V-neck piece, which featured cold shoulder cutouts and a draped silk skirt.

Turns out Queen Bee is a repeat offender when it comes to wearing wedding dresses. Beyoncé's name appears multiple times on this list, starting with this custom Inbal Dror lace bodysuit she donned for 2014's On the Run tour.

For a second bridal inspired look for the tour, Bey switched it up with a jumpsuit from Elie Saab's bridal collection. Featuring all-over lace illusion sleeves and cape, complete with flower crown and veil, this look surely inspired Mrs. Carter to go bridal again (more to come on this list!).

Kristen Wiig, 2015 Golden GLobes

There was nary a wedding chapel or a groom in sight on Kristen Wiig’s arm at the 2015 Golden Globes, but that didn’t stop the comedian from making tongues wag in an off-the-shoulder ensemble that was fit for a blushing bride. The dress, named Amédée, came straight from Delphine Manivet's bridal collection and boasted a satin chiffon fabric and a loose, flowy fit that would be right in line with a beachside ceremony.

American designer Mark Zunino—the same man behind Vergara's own pre-wedding celebration cocktail dress—was responsible for the breathtakingly beautiful bridal getup the Modern Family actress chose for her stint on the 2017 Emmys carpet. Not only did the strapless mermaid frock make her standout from the crowd, it flattered her figure to a tee. “He makes dresses that are perfect for voluptuous women,” she later told E! News.

Runway strutter Adriana Lima looked like an actual angel at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival in the all-white strapless Naeem Khan bridal gown she debuted at the premiere of Loveless. Adding slicked-back locks, a bold red lip, and plenty of jewels to her ensemble, the former Victoria’s Secret model was the picture of elegance.

Mother Monster was a vision in white at the 2019 SAG Awards, which she turned up to in an actual wedding dress from Dior’s Paris Haute Couture show. With its frayed trim, plunging neckline, wrap waist, and thigh-high slit, the look brought plenty of drama, which Gaga smartly played up with a chic chignon and a dark burgundy lip and nails.

Never mind the fact that Chopra had not one, not two, but three different wedding gowns at her December 2018 wedding to now-husband Nick Jonas. The Quantico alum wasn’t yet finished with bridal couture in May 2019, when she showed up to the Cannes Film Festival in a show-stopping creation designed for the aisle by Georges Hobeika. Pulled straight from his spring 2020 line, the tiered garment had a ruffled, strapless neckline and a small tulle train that left us swooning.

Rounding out the 2019 Cannes wedding wear trio was former Miss USA Olivia Culpo. Her show-stopping sheer and floral embroidered mermaid gown was a bridal pick from Ralph & Russo’s fall 2016 couture line, though she chose to forgo the intricate matching cape and headwear it was shown with on the runway.

Emily Ratajkowski, 2020 Critics' Choice Awards

The model/actress/swimwear designer may have opted out of wearing a wedding dress for her own 2018 nuptials to husband Sebastian Bear-McClard, saying her courthouse vows in a mustard yellow Zara suit, but she had her turn in a bridal gown at the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards this January. Still, she kept things far from conventional, showing off her mile-long legs in a draped chiffon mini cocktail dress by Oscar de le Renta. A oversized double-breasted jacket completed her short bridal look.

The 22-year-old model may not yet have walked down the aisle with her 45-year-old beau, Leonardo DiCaprio (word on the street is that a proposal could be imminent!), but it didn’t stop her from strutting her stuff on the 2020 Oscars red carpet in a breathtaking Carolina Herrera wedding gown. The Mickey and the Bear actress had the strapless blush piece with exposed boning tweaked just for the occasion, with stylist Micah Shifman revealing to InStyle that it had reminded Morrone of Grace Kelly.
