Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen's Relationship Timeline

After being romantically linked for the first time in May 2023, award-winning performer Hailee Steinfeld and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen continue to spend countless hours together, including traveling to Paris Fashion Week, celebrating the holidays with one another, and even attending his sister's gender reveal party. However, the duo has not been without controversy. Allen connected with Steinfeld just a month after reports emerged that he had called it quits with his girlfriend of eight years, Brittany Williams—with some accusing him of moving on too quickly. Yet even amidst criticism, this celebrity couple appears to be going strong. May 2023: New York Getaway

The actress and quarterback were first spotted together walking through New York City right before the holiday weekend on May 27, 2023. Just four days later, photos emerged of the duo on a date at Sushi By Bou. In a snapshot posted to the restaurant owner’s Facebook account, the NFL star's arm is slung over the shoulder of the “Most Girls” singer. Allen reportedly even went behind the sushi counter to serve Steinfeld during the meal, according to Page Six. 

August 2, 2023: Allen Discusses the Relationship 

During an appearance on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast, the hosts asked Allen about headlines discussing him “making out with his girlfriend,” according to People. “The fact that anybody cares about that still blows my mind,” the quarterback responded, offering few additional details on his budding relationship. While the athlete didn’t confirm his status with The Edge of Seventeen star on the episode, he also didn’t correct the hosts when they referred to her as his girlfriend. 

September 30, 2023: Meet the Parents

Even though the celebrity couple had only been linked for a few months, it’s clear that their relationship progressed quickly. Steinfeld posed with Allen’s mother, Lavonne, and the owner of Leveled Up Buffalo, a local boutique, that was shared on the store’s Instagram.

October 26, 2023: First Official Public Appearance

Even in the middle of football season, Allen carved out time to attend a Buffalo Sabres game with Steinfeld. The duo, who sat in a box together, watched the season-opening match between the Sabres and the New York Rangers. The date night marked their first public appearance as a couple. 

March 24, 2024: Family Time 

The two continued to spend more time together, even attending Allen's sister's gender reveal party earlier this spring. “I’m Josh,” the NFL star said in a TikTok video in which guests guessed the gender of the baby. “I’m Hailee,” the singer added. The couple shared the same guess: “It’s going to be a boy,” the athlete said; “I’m kinda feeling like it’s going to be a boy, too,” Steinfeld added. 

July 23, 2024: Instagram Official 

Before heading into the regular season, Allen posted a collection of Instagram photos, including a snap of him and Steinfeld in Paris and a shot of him and the actress posing alongside his family. However, those photos appeared alongside a not-so-fun shot of his split pants. In a post on X, the quarterback lent additional context to the incident, sharing that he had ripped his pants at one of the couple's dinners out in the city of love. Yet, most importantly, the mishap didn't seem to dampen their European getaway, as the quarterback added: “I love Paris.” 

September 13, 2024: Football Season Begins Again

In a September edition of her newsletter, “Beau Society,” the “Starving” singer wrote about her support for her NFL boyfriend. “So the rumors are true,” she said, according to US Weekly. “Football season is back which means a few things. A) I get to watch my favorite person continue to make NFL history every week (go off 17). B) We’re just a few weeks away from drastic temperature drops (California girl speaking) where you’ll find me drinking hot chocolate bundled in vintage Bills gear.” So far, she's stayed true to her promise: Just a few weeks after publishing this edition of her newsletter, Steinfeld was pictured alongside other Allen supporters at a game. 

October 18, 2024: Avoiding a “Bad Omen” 

In another recent edition of her newsletter, Steinfeld shared the story of how she and the Bills quarterback accidentally bought each other the same gift for Christmas: a Miyabi Kaizen chef’s knife. “After we exchanged our knives lol, he told me there's an old wive's tale that if you gift your significant other a knife you have to pay for it, otherwise it signifies the severing of a relationship,” she wrote, according to Sports Illustrated. “So we exchanged quarters so we didn't have that bad omen.”
