I Swear By the $7 Lip Stain Wedding Guests Call “Long-Lasting”

And it's non-transferable — or "kiss-proof," as one shopper put it.

Peripera Lip Tint Befpre and after a tester standing by a white door

Maddie Barber / Brides

If my overflowing collection of lip glosses, balms, sticks, stains, and liners isn’t enough to prove that I’m an expert in the lip product department, I don’t know what will. As a beauty writer and product aficionado, I take my lip looks very seriously — it takes me a while to determine the perfect lip combination to sport to the office each week or to a day full of events. With this, you can imagine the thought that will go into my look on my wedding day, a time when I not only feel I want to look my best but need all of my products to last (or at least feel easy to touch up throughout the day and night).

Brides-to-be likely understand this struggle, as it’s rare to come across a bold lip that can survive kisses at the altar, sips of champagne, and sweating on the dance floor — that is until Peripera’s Ink the Velvet Lip Tint went viral for its gorgeous, long-lasting pigment and low price tag. As someone who never passes up adding a new lip product to my stash, I had to see what the hype was about. The verdict? There’s a reason this tint is so popular.

Peripera’s Ink the Velvet Lip Tint boasts the perfect cross between lipstick, a shiny gloss, and a stain, so if you want your lip to stand out on your big day, this is for you. This sort of product is right up my alley, so I couldn’t have been more excited to unscrew the top and apply it to my freshly exfoliated lips. Right away, I could tell the consistency was perfect — not goopy but not too dry. The product moved effortlessly across my lips with barely any smudging, even amid my usual shaky application. Plus, it was easier to get into the slimmer crannies thanks to the narrow, pointed applicator. The color was instantly gorgeous (I got Shades 01 and 02), even after dabbing the excess formula to lower the intensity slightly.

If you want to make the hue slightly less bold for a more natural finish, dab with a tissue soon after application so that it doesn’t dry down before you get your desired look. Once the formula is dry, it’s really dry, meaning it doesn’t budge — so it’s ideal for your wedding day (whether you’re a bride-to-be or a guest), where longevity is key. Paired with my go-to Idun Minerals Lipliner and Stila Heaven's Dew Gel Lip Oil, the look was a dream. With over 20 available shades, there’s truly an option for every bride’s or wedding guest’s taste — I suggest adding a gloss on top of some additional luster if you’re less into the matte look.

Shoppers agree with me, too. One wedding guest said they wore it “all day” for a wedding and it “still looked great at the end of the night.” Another shopper wore this to their own wedding and said it gave them a “natural-looking” pout and that it’s “perfect for soft and supple lip color.” And one fan added that they’re saying goodbye to lipstick after wearing it to a wedding where it was “long-lasting” and “non-transferable (kiss-proof).”

After sporting Shade 01 from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. (a day spent in the office and at a few events), I only had to reapply twice — a major feat considering the extent of eating, drinking, and gabbing going on throughout this day. If you’re still on the hunt for your wedding day lip combination, Peripera’s Ink the Velvet Lip Tint will last and help you create your most noteworthy look yet.
