Altagracia Greenard, a teacher, and Jonathan Greenard, a linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings, met in college back in February 2019. “Jonathan walked through one of my photos while my best friend and I were having one of our 'just because' photoshoots,” Alta says. Four years later, Jonathan found himself at training camp in Miami (which just so happens to be Alta's hometown). "I came down to visit him and my family for the weekend," she explains. "He planned a Sunday brunch that turned a proposal with both our families in attendance."

The couple knew they wanted to host their wedding at Foxhall Resort in Douglassville, Georgia, where guests could stay for the weekend. “We wanted a country vibe to our modern lifestyle,” the bride says. “We loved the intimacy and beautiful scenery of this resort the most.” She and Jonathan invited 190 attendees to their April 20, 2024, nuptials, which were inspired by Bridgerton; the duo envisioned a greenery-filled spring party with a pastel color palette of blush, peach, and yellow that translated to the dress code. “Jonathan and I are both very loving, fun, and vibrant people and we feel as though the pastel color palette inspiration for our guests allowed everyone to be creative, colorful, and have fun,” the bride says.

They hired Nia from Thompson & Tulle to help them source the perfect vendor team and design all of the big-day décor details. Their wedding was full of unique details like custom welcome bags, a surprise musical guest during the ceremony, and late-night Waffle House. You won’t want to miss the personalize elements of their big day, as captured by Glorianna Chan.

The couple’s invitation suite was customized by Ernest and Wodie. They incorporated a monogram of their first initials and finished the suite with a delicate blush ribbon.

The invitations gave guests a recommended color palette for their attire—physical color swatches pointed them in the correct direction—and butterfly stamps were the perfect finishing touch.

When guests arrived at Foxhall Resort for the weekend, they were greeted with canvas welcome bags. “We had University of Florida cookies in our welcome bags as a nod to where we met!” Alta says.

Alta shopped for her wedding dress just three months before the big day. Luckily, she found her Pronovias gown at her first bridal appointment in Houston. “The stress levels were high and I was not that confident that I would find my dress that day but with the amazing selection and the help of my amazing friends, I said yes to the dress!” she says.

The mikado mermaid style gown featured a V-neckline, low back, and cathedral train. “This dress screamed timeless and I knew it would be something I could pass down to my daughter,” Alta says. She accessorized the ensemble with a beaded veil, Nadri earrings, Jimmy Choo shoes, and an emerald cut tennis bracelet and necklace duo.

She spritzed on YSL’s Libre fragrance, which she was gifted at her friend’s wedding. “I chose this fragrance because it smells like it should be paired with an unforgettable event,” she says.

She held a large bouquet of coral orange, yellow, and peach peonies, which popped against her bridesmaids' champagne Birdy Grey dresses (they stood out in the sea of guests in pastel). They each held a smaller version of Alta’s arrangement.

Jonathan stepped out in an ivory suit with a soft floral pattern by Darryl Anderson. “From a distance, it looks muted, but up close you can see the fine details in the florals all over,” Alta says. He accessorized with Gucci clear frames, a Rolex watch, and custom cufflinks that featured his initials (a present from Alta); a peach ranunculus boutonnière was the finishing touch. Jonathan’s big-day fragrance was Baccarat Rouge 540—another gift from his bride. The groomsmen wore tan slim fit suits from Jos. A. Bank.

The couple’s ceremony took place on the venue’s lawn, surrounded by hills and greenery. A broken floral arch was set up at the altar; vibrant flower arrangements in window boxes flanked the petal-covered aisle.

Jonathan surprised Alta by hiring singer Peter Collins, who provided all ceremony music. He played Sabrina Claudio's “Frozen” for her walk down the aisle. “We wrote our own vows and included the story of how we met and even some Bible scriptures,” Alta shares of their nuptials.

Alta and Jonathan celebrated back down the aisle to “Promise” by Jagged Edge. Following the service, the happy couple took the opportunity to take a few portraits with their daughter.

At the cocktail hour, a jazz trio entertained guests as they enjoyed passed apps like crab cakes, philly cheesesteak tarts, and fried green tomatoes. “We wanted to mix in a couple of our favorites, along with items that would introduce people to the South, like the fried green tomatoes,” Alta says. The pair also served two signature cocktails: a strawberry margarita for Alta, and a tequila soda with cranberry for Jonathan.

They hired Ayla Kay Designs to create a custom escort display that featured window box flower arrangements—a callback to the florals that lined the ceremony aisle. Before they found their seats, guests recorded voice messages for the couple on a blue rotary phone instead of signing a traditional guest book.

The reception brought the couple’s Bridgerton vision to life via greenery and chandeliers hanging from the beams and flowers and candles set up around the stone fireplace. A mix of round and long tables were adorned with light blue linens and low centerpieces mixed with bud vases and taper candles. Place settings incorporated green chargers, white and green patterned napkins, gold flatware, and green water goblets with a bee on them to represent the wedding’s spring theme. The same window box flower arrangements seen at the couple’s ceremony were set up throughout the room.

For dinner, the couple served a duet entrée featuring a red snapper roulade and a honey dijon chicken dish paired with asiago and chive stuffed fingerling potatoes and butternut squash au gratin.

Lush Cakery kept Alta and Jonathan’s white four-tiered wedding cake simple, highlighting a white sculpted monogram at the center. They chose amaretto white chocolate raspberry and lemon cake for the flavors.

Guests were given custom Waffle House mugs—a nod to the waffle and hash brown bar they served as a late night snack—featuring the couple’s new shared name as wedding favors. And since they knew their DJ would keep their guests on the dance floor all night long, the couple changed into white Golden Goose sneakers, customized with their wedding date in roman numerals and their wedding hashtag, for the rest of the night.

Alta urges couples who are getting ready to tie the knot to enjoy the planning process. “Take in every moment because in a blink of an eye, it’ll be the day after your wedding,” she says. “Enjoy the stress, the laughs, the banter, the decision making, the food tasting—all of it."
