Selecting a wedding color palette is an important part of the planning process, and the hue you choose will show up in almost every detail, such as the wedding party outfits, floral arrangements, tablescapes, and paper touchpoints like invites and menu cards. “Colors set the tone, pun intended,” says Fallon Carter, founder and creative director of Fallon Carter Events. “Color is extremely important to creating an environment. It impacts the mood, the feeling, the senses. Having a color palette is truly vital to designing the wedding you’re seeking to design, and is important in how you want to communicate your love story.”
For summer 2024 weddings, in particular, planners are seeing couples communicate their love story in vibrant and spirited ways, as many "nearlyweds" are now embracing bold, bright shades versus traditional pastel palettes. “I think the willingness of couples to embrace these bolder shades suggests a shift towards greater confidence and self-expression,” shares Andrea Petrucci, president and lead designer at Lovehaus Events in Philadelphia. “In the past, there may have been a tendency to stick to safer, more subdued color palettes, but now couples are seeking to make a statement and infuse their weddings with personality and individuality."
To highlight the personality-infused hues couples seem to be embracing, we tapped several experts to spotlight every shade that will be front and center during warm-weather nuptials this year. Here are the wedding color palettes trending for summer 2024.

Pops of Chartreuse
Chartreuse green may not be the first color that comes to mind when you think of a wedding-day palette, but that’s exactly why it feels so fresh—and why many couples have opted to incorporate this unexpected hue into their big day. “Chartreuse is the electrifying hue dominating wedding palettes this summer,” says Bianca Hall, co-owner and lead planner at Estera Events. According to Hall, chartreuse is a “design-forward” shade that works well for modern couples with more avant-garde tastes. “Chartreuse encapsulates the essence of summer in a contemporary way, infusing wedding design with a fresh ambiance that resonates with the spirit of the season," she adds.
Carter agrees and shares that she has also seen an uptick in chartreuse. “Everyone is really trying to bring nature into their color palettes but flipping the switch on it,” she says. “Before we used to be very into pastels, now it’s extremely energetic and vibrant.”
Wedding planner Erica Vanco of Estera Events further notes that the beauty of this color lies in the details; it allows those with minimalist aesthetics to still incorporate a pop of color without it being too over the top. "If you’re naturally a minimalist when it comes to your personal aesthetic, it can be used in the most subtle details, but still make a large impact overall, from your wedding stationery to the throw pillows in a lounge grouping," Vanco explains.

Beautiful Blues
Blue never goes out of style for a reason—the old adage is about something blue, after all. “It’s one of the top colors brides search for on Instagram and Pinterest and translates well into events,” explains AJ Williams, founder of AJ Events. “Blue is a calming and timeless color and can be the base to add more style and elegance based on your personality.”
Additionally, many couples this summer are opting for this hue since it gives a nautical, Cape Cod vibe—especially when navy, light blue, and white are paired together. “It transports guests to a coastal, beachside, and summery environment,” says Williams. Turquoise blue also feels tropical, while pale blue is reminiscent of the “something blue” rule.
When it comes to florals, individuals are even selecting blue blooms—a lovely detail to complement this summer's trend of vibrant shades. Floral designer at Flowermaid, Ines Garstecki, loves “French dusty blues or China blues mixed with white and splashes of yellow,” like yellow cosmos, dahlias, or even lemons on the table. “This color scheme also works in Tuscany-inspired weddings with lemons, olive branches, and white flowers, with a splash of navy added in vases, napkin colors, or plates," she explains.

Bold Black
Yes, black can be a summer color! Sarah Klingman, founder and CEO of event planning company Mostest, shares that there's been a big "shift towards bold black-focused décor, an evolution from the traditional black and white palette." She also adds that black is currently trending due to the hue's reuse factor; the color is seasonless and versatile, so opting for black ribbons and dinnerware, among other items, allows couples to use their décor post-wedding. “Bold black palettes make a statement about individuality and reuse, which is why we think they're on trend now," she explains.

Citrus, Coral, and Orange Tones
Get ready to see lots of bright pink, vivid coral, tangerine orange, and lemon yellow all over your social media feed this summer. “This is the season of playful colors that nod to beautiful locales,” shares Aleah Valley, co-founder of Valley & Company Events. “Blood orange, poppy coral, and canary yellow tones are all making appearances at our spring and summertime events, and will be carried through welcome events to farewell parties.”
Emily Wren, lead planner and owner of With Great Love, has also noticed couples being drawn to these brighter shades. "The popularity of vibrant pinks and oranges is largely influenced by a collective desire for optimism and new life. Couples are excited and eager to embrace vivid and spirited colors that symbolize new beginnings and happiness," she says.

Natural and Botanical Hues
Organic shades, like green and terracotta, will also make a big appearance during peak wedding season. "The incorporation of nature-inspired tones resonates with the season’s outdoor festivities, whether it's a garden ceremony or a beachy reception,” says Nicole Ettenhofer, vice president of growth and strategy at George Street Photo and Video, a wedding photography company in Boston.
Expect to see touches of nature show up in a variety of ways, like vibrant plants and florals against more muted, textural elements. “Couples are often incorporating bold botanicals with neutral backgrounds to make a statement,” adds Ettenhofer. “Considering current trends in fashion and interior design, it's likely that earthy tones like terracotta and sage green, as well as calming blues and warm neutrals, will continue to be popular choices for summer 2024 weddings,” adds Petrucci.

Prints and Patterns
Can’t decide on a palette? Carter has seen an increase in couples embracing prints and patterns in lieu of more traditional wedding colors, including “florals, prints like polka dots, and artwork,” she shares. Perfect for individuals who aren't afraid to break the mold, this is a bold and modern idea many summer 2024 weddings will have. “Color is being expressed differently. I think we’ve been in a ‘weddings have to be white’ or ‘a soft pop of blue’ phase, but couples are getting more adventurous," Carter adds.
