Couples spend an average of $6,500 to $7,000 on engagement rings, according to data from the Natural Diamond Council, but one dazzling sparkler is currently being auctioned off for way more than that. Christie’s Jewels Online sale is offering a 17-carat diamond ring from American jeweler Harry Winston that will be available for purchase from March 11 to March 21, 2024. The pear-shaped, brilliant-cut diamond, set in platinum and flanked by tapered baguette-cut diamonds, is expected to sell from $700,000 to $1 million.

According to a report by the Gemological Institute of America, the center rock has “perfect symmetry and polish.” The gem is also a D-color stone, which refers to a rare colorless appearance, and it scores a VVS2 in terms of clarity, which is the highest possible rating. (Under a magnifying glass, a VVS2 clarity diamond has very minimal flaws, but to the naked eye, it’s faultless.)

There are 200 other jewels, diamonds, and colored gemstones being auctioned off at Christie’s Jewels Online sale. Some of these pieces are from other noteworthy jewelers, such as David Webb, Cartier, and Jean Schlumberger. Plus, in addition to the Harry Winston piece, there are two other diamond rings up for auction: a one-carat blue diamond bauble going for $150,000 to $250,000, and a 10-carat yellow diamond sparkler featuring two smaller diamonds, set to sell for $70,000 to $100,000.

The sale also offers a collection of Bulgari pieces—high-end jewels to adorn and complement your wedding attire. For instance, a gold necklace and matching earrings will add a glamorous touch to your big-day getup. Several vintage items are also on sale—like a butterfly brooch covered in diamonds and colored gemstones from Bulgari that dates back to 1965—items that can douse your ensemble in rich history. Some other highlights include a Van Clef & Arpels diamond and gold evening bag from the 1960s that’s expected to sell for $20,000, and an art deco-inspired ring by Dreicer & Co from 1920 that has an estimated $15,000 to $20,000 price tag.

Many of the antique and modern jewelry pieces on sale are from A Fashionable Life: The Collection of an Elegant Lady and Property from the Collection of Fritz and Lucy Jewett. Christie’s sale will also present two other charitable collections, like the Collection of Nate Berkus, which will donate its proceeds to the Grace Church School in New York City.
