The incident has "restored her faith in humanity," the 28-year-old noted.

Imagine this: You're leaving work at the end of a long day, and when you happen to glance down at your left hand, you notice the diamond engagement ring that had been there this morning is suddenly missing. For 28-year-old Morganne Moreno, a grocery clerk in Cowbridge, a small town in Wales, that unfortunate scenario was her reality, BBC reports.

When she realized that her engagement ring—which she received from her fiancé, Josh, in March of this year—was no longer on the fourth finger of her left hand, Morganne says "her heart went to her stomach." "Every thought went through my mind, but somehow I just knew it had gone into a customer’s bag," she notes. Though she felt certain the ring likely went home with a customer, Morganne and her colleagues searched the entire store. Unfortunately, they came up empty. "I think I must have done that a million times over the weekend, back and forth, back and forth."

In a last-ditch effort to be reunited with that special piece of jewelry, the bride-to-be asked if the store would post a "plea" for return on their Facebook page. "To be honest, I didn't think I would get it back," she says. However, on Monday evening, just as Morganne was getting ready to turn in for the night, her coworker sent her a message saying she had some good news. A customer had found the engagement ring in the bottom of her shopping bag and was hoping to get it back to its rightful owner.

The next day, the ring was back on Morganne's finger. "We went to collect the ring on Tuesday as a woman had messaged Sarah to say she had found it in her bag," she says. "I'm so relieved. I really went through all of the motions and then to hear the end result, I was obviously just so relieved. This whole experience, it just really has restored my faith in humanity. It makes you [realize] there are really good people out there that want to help."

This isn't the first time that an important piece of wedding jewelry has gone missing at a grocery store. Last year, a Trader Joe's employee found a customer's 40-year-old Tiffany & Co. wedding band that had been lost between racks of baby back ribs. “It was amazing to find the ring,” store manager Orlando Cintron, who discovered the gold band, said at the time. “When we heard they lost a wedding band, we felt so bad.” The lesson? Whether you're shopping or working, keep an eye on your engagement ring and wedding band whenever you're in the grocery store.
